The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 changes how subscriptions are sold to UK consumers: easy exit, written confirmation, reminders before renewals, cooling-off with refunds, and the key terms before the contract. Renew Forge gives a WooCommerce Subscriptions store the tools for each — configurable, because the regulations that fill in the details are not published yet.
Renew Forge is a tool, not legal advice, and it does not guarantee compliance on its own. The government expects the regime to start in spring 2027.
What the Act asks
Five duties, one plugin for each
The sections below are the Act as passed. Where the Act leaves a number to regulations or to "reasonable", Renew Forge makes it a setting with a stated default.
Leaving must be straightforward
A one-click cancel button in My account, and the same on the subscription page. No "are you sure?" maze.
A written confirmation of the ending
An email with the date the subscription ends, for every cancellation — the button, the WooCommerce Subscriptions link, an admin, a gateway or the REST API.
Reminders before renewals
Before the first payment after a free trial or discount, before the payment that ends each six-month period, and an earlier one for yearly renewals. Pro
Cooling-off, with a refund
Cancel within 14 days after the start and after qualifying renewals; the refund goes back through the payment gateway where it can. Pro
Key terms before the contract
A subscription summary on product pages, and at checkout the key terms with a tick box that says the customer will pay. Pro at checkout

Questions
Before you install
Does Renew Forge make my store compliant?
No plugin can promise that. Renew Forge gives you the mechanisms the Act describes, keeps a record of what happened, and tells you in the compliance check what still depends on you — your terms, your prices, your wording.
Do I need WooCommerce Subscriptions?
Yes. Renew Forge is an add-on to WooCommerce Subscriptions; without it the plugin says so and does nothing else.
Does my customers' data leave my store?
No. Subscriptions, orders and the evidence journal stay in your WordPress database. Pro talks to our licence server with your licence key and site address only, and — if you switch SMS on — to your own SMS provider.
What happens when the regulations are published?
Periods, thresholds and texts are settings with the Act's defaults. When the regulations set different numbers, you change the setting; we update the defaults in a release.
What if the licence expires?
The Pro features stop until it is renewed. Nothing is deleted, and the free plugin keeps working. If our server cannot be reached, nothing is switched off.
