Tick Checkout acknowledgement on Renew Forge → Cooling-off & checkout. When the cart holds a new subscription, the checkout shows its key terms — price and how often (for the quantity and coupons in the cart, delivery and tax included), any sign-up fee, trial or fixed payment day and the first payment date, renewal or length, the least the customer will pay, how to cancel, your reminder period and the cooling-off right, followed by where the full details are (your terms page) — with a required tick box: “I understand that this is a subscription and that I will pay … until I cancel”.

- Checkout block: in the payment step, before the terms and the Place order button, without editing the page; when there is nothing to pay today (a free trial, a £0 first period), in the contact information step.
The order is refused on the server if the box is not ticked, or if the terms changed while the customer was checking out. The text shown, its version and hash, and the time of the tick are saved on the order (against each subscription it starts) and in the journal (“Subscription terms accepted at checkout”). Renewals paid through the cart (manual or early renewal) ask nothing: they are not new contracts. With Minimum term on, the checkout names the term and its end date.
While the acknowledgement is on, the Apple Pay and Google Pay buttons of Stripe and WooPayments are hidden where a new subscription would be bought (product page, cart, checkout), because they skip the terms and the tick box; paying a renewal keeps them. A Compliance item names other payment methods with such buttons.
The provisions: key pre-contract information given together and separately before the contract (s. 256(1), (3); Sch. 23 Part 1), and an express acknowledgement at the last step that the contract means paying (s. 257(2)) — without it the consumer is not bound (s. 257(5)). The free plugin’s “Order button mentions payment” item checks the button text itself.
